Chiringuito El Kabron Spanish Club Review

Another Bali restaurant review, for this one I have to say maybe it wasn't just my luck that day.

EL Kabron Spanish Club is one really well-known hangout place currently in Bali. Famous for its amazing view because it is located up in a cliff with the view of spectacular Bali beach. We found some difficulties finding the place, of course we were guided by google maps. we went on uluwatu area and entered pecatu asri resort (new housing area in pecatu) the roads were looonngg, full of ups and downs and when we got almost desperate with our search we finally asked a hotel security guard, just to be told that the road  to El Kabron WAS here, but it was closed because of some hotel construction so we had to take the further way! (D'oh!)

Out form Pecatu resort, we went up again browsing the uluwatu area, it had been 1.5 hours, and finally we entered a very long and winding road full of serpentine track! Like when you go to Puncak from Jakarta only this time the road was smaller, among the bushes (Oh scary!) but I have this feeling that our struggle to find this restaurant will be worth it, so we kept on going!

Fyuuhh, after almost 2 hours ride we FINALLY found EL Kabron Restaurant which located in a very remote area of pecatu. When we got there, there were only three cars parked, so we kind of hoping the place for ourself :)

We stepped into the restaurant, but the waitress who supposed to greet us stopped us while she was on the phone talking (which I find a bit of rude by the way she stopped us) and another man greeted us and led us inside. I told him that we want to be seated outside for sunset, and he said that the outside area was being CLOSED due to raining whether (it was raining 20 minutes before we got there).

Okaayy, so we allowed to be seated inside and I saw a lot of "reserved" signed on almost all the tables inside. Okay since we were totally hungry we gotta ordered fast! But too bad I found the menu was a bit lack of variety (Cold tapas - hot tapas - paella - dessert), maybe Spanish food isn't really my thing :P

So we ordered finger foods instead of big ones, I thought we'll just have snack and enjoy the sunset view for an hour or so and head back to town. but to our more disappointment, there were no sunset that day because of the raining just stopped at around 4 :(

Gambas AL Ajillo

PINCHOS DE TERNERA

We opted for Gambas Al Ajillo (75K) it was Prawns cooked in spicy garlic flavoured olive oil, hate to say that the prawns were fishy and not so fresh :(. Their pinchos de ternera (65K) were good though, it was Mediterranean herbs-marinated grill Australian beef sticks, the beef was tender and tasty. For snacks we opted for Croquetas De Marisco (65K) - Prawns and lobster croquettes, it was just okay for me and Mr. A.

Beside the mediocre food and not-so-great service, we gotta give El Kabron 5 thumbs up for its amazing view.

would be three times more amazing if there were a sunset view :)

They have such breath-taking view over a cliff, overseeing a great beach of Padang-Padang Beach. But they are surely need to improve their service and menu selection.
