Garcon

So, I was having lunch with friend at Marche Plaza Senayan on Sunday afternoon, and we were up for dessert so when we walked down from Marche we were looking at this cute cafe which was crowded at that time, Garcon.

The restaurant itself is a french bistro and patisserie which really attracted us just looking from outside, it has very unique decor and has great ambiance! Our eyes were set at the dessert window right at the entrance, so many cute cakes! YUM!! :)

Because we've just had our lunch, so we only ordered the cakes and some drinks. We opted for Relegie Caramel (35K) and  the other one I forgot the name but it taste chocolaty with crispy bottom and bit of nutty filling :P
Religie caramel!

they have great selection of cake and pastries! gotta try 'em all!
having all sweets makes me craved for something light and bit salty, so we opted for French Fries Parmesan (around 40K), you can actually choose your topper with Truffle/ Paprika/ Parmesan. Tasted really great for french fries LOL!

For the drinks, my friend ordered ice chocolate (around 60K) and I had Ambrosie (58K) the ambrosie was yogurt blend with peach, raspberry, honey and lemon. Really love the Ambrosie, the yogurt wasn't really thick, and it has more of sweet taste than sour but not that sweet (y'all know what I mean? hehe) So it's really refreshing and nice to accompany your snacks! The ice chocolate was lovely too! YUM!

Garcon, is one great place to hang out with friends or our love one to enjoy some light snacks, dessert or even lunch/dinner! I'll be sure to visit again to try their main course :)

Kopitiam Tan

Kopitiam Tan is located in SCBD area inside the same lot as The Foundry No. 8, Beautika and Beer Garden. I went there after work while waiting on Jakarta's heavy traffic before the long holiday (fyuuhh...)

Kopitiam Tan is under the Biko Group which also established the Beer Garden. Just like any other kopitiam cafe in Jakarta, though I have to say Kopitiam Tan has more variety menu than just bread, coffee and other malay-chinese foods.

The interior is pretty spacy with dimmed lighting, good place to hang out with your friends while enjoying good snacks and coffee. But i was there for dinner so will definitely visit there next time for their coffee and various snacks menu.

Their menu selections!

They have so many menu to choose from, from all day breakfast, light meals, dessert, lunch and dinner. They also have many selections of beverages! YUM!

I chose "Mie Ajam Pandjang Oemoer" (35K) which was the typical "mie ayam" , taste nice and the noodles were good. My pals ordered Nasi Goreng Cabe Ijo (38K) and Sop Iga served with Nasi Pandan (around 60K) (love the nasi pandan!) and also their Pangsit Goreng Oedang Mayonaise (28K) with soft shrimp and veggie filling.
Great taste esp. for those who keen on SPICY stuff!

Pangsit goreng oedang

the RIBS!

They are doing very well for Kopitiam and definitely will go visit them back to try their other good foods and of course to try their coffee! :)

Chiringuito El Kabron Spanish Club Review

Another Bali restaurant review, for this one I have to say maybe it wasn't just my luck that day.

EL Kabron Spanish Club is one really well-known hangout place currently in Bali. Famous for its amazing view because it is located up in a cliff with the view of spectacular Bali beach. We found some difficulties finding the place, of course we were guided by google maps. we went on uluwatu area and entered pecatu asri resort (new housing area in pecatu) the roads were looonngg, full of ups and downs and when we got almost desperate with our search we finally asked a hotel security guard, just to be told that the road  to El Kabron WAS here, but it was closed because of some hotel construction so we had to take the further way! (D'oh!)

Out form Pecatu resort, we went up again browsing the uluwatu area, it had been 1.5 hours, and finally we entered a very long and winding road full of serpentine track! Like when you go to Puncak from Jakarta only this time the road was smaller, among the bushes (Oh scary!) but I have this feeling that our struggle to find this restaurant will be worth it, so we kept on going!

Fyuuhh, after almost 2 hours ride we FINALLY found EL Kabron Restaurant which located in a very remote area of pecatu. When we got there, there were only three cars parked, so we kind of hoping the place for ourself :)

We stepped into the restaurant, but the waitress who supposed to greet us stopped us while she was on the phone talking (which I find a bit of rude by the way she stopped us) and another man greeted us and led us inside. I told him that we want to be seated outside for sunset, and he said that the outside area was being CLOSED due to raining whether (it was raining 20 minutes before we got there).

Okaayy, so we allowed to be seated inside and I saw a lot of "reserved" signed on almost all the tables inside. Okay since we were totally hungry we gotta ordered fast! But too bad I found the menu was a bit lack of variety (Cold tapas - hot tapas - paella - dessert), maybe Spanish food isn't really my thing :P

So we ordered finger foods instead of big ones, I thought we'll just have snack and enjoy the sunset view for an hour or so and head back to town. but to our more disappointment, there were no sunset that day because of the raining just stopped at around 4 :(

Gambas AL Ajillo

PINCHOS DE TERNERA

We opted for Gambas Al Ajillo (75K) it was Prawns cooked in spicy garlic flavoured olive oil, hate to say that the prawns were fishy and not so fresh :(. Their pinchos de ternera (65K) were good though, it was Mediterranean herbs-marinated grill Australian beef sticks, the beef was tender and tasty. For snacks we opted for Croquetas De Marisco (65K) - Prawns and lobster croquettes, it was just okay for me and Mr. A.

Beside the mediocre food and not-so-great service, we gotta give El Kabron 5 thumbs up for its amazing view.

would be three times more amazing if there were a sunset view :)

They have such breath-taking view over a cliff, overseeing a great beach of Padang-Padang Beach. But they are surely need to improve their service and menu selection.

Gourmet Cafe

So, I just got back from my 4 days vacation in Bali. Got some food reviews tag along with me :) So here's one of 'em.

I always love breakfast! For me and Mr. A, it was our favorite meal of the day. So when knowing to be in Bali for 4 days, we managed to find some reviews on Bali best breakfast. From Tripadvisor and by reading foodie blog, Gourmet Cafe is one of the recommended place to go. So we went there, and I'm glad we did!

It was simply a breakfast paradise! We were the only locals that time, so I guess that place is very famous among tourists. Whatever you want for breakfast was simply there. From Salad (DIY salad), Pastries, Sandwiches, American breakfast, Cakes, Gelato and ALL! We spent some time browsing their menu since we WANT them all! :)

Gourmet Cafe is part of Bali Catering Company, one of the biggest catering company in Denpasar. They serve an all day breakfast menu and give you opportunity to create your own salads and sandwiches.

Their selection of Cakes

Gelatooo!

Salad bar

deserts, coffee, tea and juices

various kind of pastries

We finally opted for The Big breakfast, plain croissant with butter & jam, Vanilla Cronut and try their homemade healthy juice.

Our BIG Breakfast! Yuumm..

The Big Breakfast (around IDR 65K) - Eggs any style with grilled Pork Bacon, Sausage, Baked Beans, Hash Brown, and Whole Wheat Toasts

Plain croissant served with butter & Jam (around IDR 10K)

Vanilla Cronut (around IDR 25K)

Their croissant is soft and really great! The big breakfast really did its job well, but I don't really like the cronut because the filling was too creamy for me, but all and all the food was great!

They also have homemade healthy juice and we were tempted to try it so we ordered the "Power Booster" and "Liver Detox".

Power Booster (around IDR 30K)

Liver Detox (around IDR 30K) -- Beet root, oranges and other fruits (sorry kind of forgot the details)

What more can I say about this place? Except that Gourmet Cafe is just the right place you wanna have for your breakfast or brunch!

Gourmet Cafe located in three area in Bali (I tried the one in Petitenget) adn open from 7 am - 10 pm.
